Hi, Gerard! Once again I want to thank you for the excellent preparation and organization of the festival in the castle of Tiffauges. We came to you for the second time, and both times there was a great program for both reenactors and spectators. Placing us in families gave us the opportunity to get to know your hospitable people better. We hope that in the future we will see you again at festivals in your castle.

Tiffauges 2019, have been a nice positive surprise for us. We heard already last year from yhis event from our italian friends, so we wanted to participate in Tiffauges 2019. For the long distance we decide to come by plane and land at Nantes were we rented a car. this was only possible because the organisation of the Event Tiffauges gave as the possibility to sleep in one of their tents and food was as welle organised for us .It is very rare to get that kind of nice hostility in the re-enactment scene. The combination of the medieval castle of Tiffauges and the new educative artefacts and their functionality to show it to the audience is good combination, also for reenactors to learn something from this artefacts or to see how it works. The role-playing Tiffauges 1368 of the event itself was very good with this also non-french reenactors have to dedicate some time to the local history of the place, France and Bretagne. The best of the event was the high quality of all the participants in costume and armour. The good feeling is that we non-french people could see that all the French reeanectment- groups are very excited about this event and honour also the place of the castle Tiffauges. So we will come next year again if we will be invited.

I think that the „thank you“ belongs most of all to you and the whole organisation team. I think you have done great work and despite the weather, we have enjoyed every minute of the event. Let me sum up a bit of our impressions from out trip. First of all, we could clearly see a huge amount of personal involvement from the organisation team and the Les amis du chateau organisation. Their zeal and will to help their town by keeping the castle of Tiffaufes alive is what makes this event truly enjoyable and ensures that every visit we make makes us feel more at home! Secondly, we greatly appreciate the cooperation with Mesnie de Penhoet reenactment group. I personally believe they are from among the top reenactment groups in Europe and in the world and their involvement is always a guarantee that the event is going to be a true historical event that will show to the visitors what life in the middle ages really was about. There was always something going on for the visitors to see, there were the medieval craftsmen with their work, there were the little theater scenes, there were the competitions and tournament. I think all these were great for the visitors who could spend their whole day visiting the castle and not get bored. And third, but definitely not the least of the things that we have to bring to attention is the fact that Europe has long and interesting history which shaped who we are and which we love. Without events like the one in Tiffauges, this history would pass away and with it would pass away the roots of our society. Places of Tiffauges would become dead reminders of our ancestors, but nothing more. But these places were once full of life, people would be born and would die in their walls, merry and cry, work and rest, raise their children and sing and dance and do all the things people do today. Events like the one you organised brings the life back to the places where it once was. And if we can we will gladly contribute to it. Driving 1400 kms and paying all the toll all the way is but a small price. So, for the Bohemian company : A big THANK YOU to organisation team and the department of Vendee to allow for such event. If we can, we will gladly come again and contribute in which ever way we can.
